Jewelry should be stored away from moisture, direct sunlight, and significant temperature changes. Delicate natural materials require especially gentle handling. Whenever possible, perfume, hairspray, and cleaning products should not come into direct contact with them.
If a clasp no longer works properly or a necklace needs to be restrung, this does not automatically mean the end of the piece. Minor damage can often be repaired. And jewelry that is no longer worn can be sold, given as a gift, or passed on to the next generation.
